Clothes dryer fire threatens a home |
Fire Chief Leon Clapper, of Blue Ridge Hook & Ladder, said it appeared the fire started from a dryer inside the home on Shagbark Lane.
Mary Flynn, owner of the home, said she smelled smoke shortly after returning from the store at about 4 p.m. The dryer was on when she left the home, she said.
"I came home, started cooking and then I smelled smoke," she said. "I looked downstairs and it was all black, and then I heard a crackling sound."
Flynn was home alone when the fire started.
Clapper said the home received heavy smoke damage.
"Everything in the basement is ruined, but the upstairs is salvageable," Flynn said.
Pocono Township Fire Company, Jackson Township Fire Company and Central Pocono Ambulance also responded at the scene.
There were no injuries.
